ABout Lillie…
Lillie Crow is a South Houston native and working artist/choreographer. She first found her love for dance at age 3, where she trained at a local studio in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Acrobatics. Upon graduating high school, she attended San Jacinto College where she was able to deepen her understanding of creative movement and graduated from Sam Houston State University with her Bachelors of Fine Arts. At Sam, she found her passion for performance and creation, thriving in the spaces of research, discussion, and commitment. Recently, she has had the opportunity to present works at festivals such as the non-profit charity event Artist for Hope, attend ACDA, and perform professionally with NobleMotion as a guest artist. In her journey so far, she has been able to work with and perform works choreographed by Netta Yerushalmy, Nicole Von Arx, Paul Singh, Christian Dennis, Jennifer Pontious, Travis Lake, Adele Nickle, Jacob Regan, Jamie Williams, Jennifer Salter, and many others.
She is currently undergoing her Dance Masters of America educators certification and finds a passion in not just performing herself but pushing the next generation of artists to find their own creative voice.
Artist statement
I have always been a person of passion and creativity. The work I do reflects that same fundamental drive, immersing myself head first into subject matter both as a creator and a performer. As a performer I find myself in tune with body and emotion to connect with every piece/process I am apart of. As a creator, I thrive on subject matter that can be both personal and political, using movement to speak my thoughts when words fail. Combining aesthetics of absurdity and technicality I create original works urging the audience to peer deeper into their own emotions, or to create commentary on the world we all exist in. I love learning and am motivated by spaces of conversation, depth, and exploration.
